Sort of...
...ish.
I had my surgery yesterday and it was everything everyone said--the easiest thing I'd ever done. Especially after the Zanac and the pain med IV (two thing I'd never had before). I barely felt anything and couldn't believe when they said it was over. In and out in less than 4 hours. I actually can't wait to get the other one done. Unfortunately, I'll have to as I am out of town for most of August and back to work after that, and since one of the only things I can't do for weeks after the surgery is left anything over 30 pounds, I'll have to wait until the Christmas holiday when I don't have a baby to cuddle for that length of time.
Everyone reassured me about the ease of the procedure and how much better their vision was, but no one told me that it wasn't an immediate thing. So, while I can see better now than I have in a very long time, it's still not great. I'm told it will get better and better in the next couple of days, and I can see that it's already getting better today than it was yesterday, I'm just learning to be patient and not stress too much that it didn't work and it was all for nothing.
BUT! It's Wednesday! It's Summer! It's a Holiday Week(end), so, lets have some fun during this WIP Wednesday. Instead of sharing a snippet and us all reading and heaping kudos and GO YOUs at you, post the very last sentence of the very last thing you've been working on and let us have fun with it. Maybe a little Round Robin, or maybe it will inspire a whole new story in a whole other fandom for someone else.
How it will work: One sentence in a new comment. No context, no explanation. If you write for that sentence, whether it be just another sentence or a scene, complete story, leave it in a reply to THAT comment. Each sentence can have as many threads as it garners and you can take any added story and work it anyway YOU want, just make sure to leave your contribution under the comment you took it from and not the original comment. Does that make sense?
I'll keep the game going all weekend, because I'm alone and I have no where to go and a jug of tasty refreshments to keep me company. Of course, if no one participates, I will quietly delete this post and pretend it never happened. ♥
LETS PLAY!
P.S. for Livejournalers, I won't turn off comments over there (mostly because I can't remember how), but I DEFINITELY suggest you check out the Dreamwidth post as it is usually where more people comment and interact for this things. ♥

Date: 2019-07-04 02:26 am (UTC)The burst of laughter that came from both of them was like a release valve being cranked hard. It went on longer than the tasteless joke warranted. One of those laughs that you can't remember its origins by the time you'd finished.

And thanks, all things considered, the recovery is already going smashingly. I just want it NOW! *stomps feet*

Date: 2019-07-04 01:04 am (UTC)Also I'm writing non-unholy things again!
“Buck,” Steve puffed into his hair, broad hand gripping his face. “Bucky. I thought you were dead.”

Date: 2019-07-04 01:37 am (UTC)"Like that, sweetheart?"
Steve's body responds - this is Bucky, who's always had this terrible, wonderful power over him.
The Winder Soldier smirks, "I guess you do."

Date: 2019-07-04 02:19 am (UTC)"A guy falls off a train, plunges 100s of snowy feet into an abyss and you just leave him for dead? The Steve I knew wouldn't have done that."
"The Steve you knew hadn't seen the realities and limitations of a moral body. Hadn't seen first hand and close up soldiers with courage and bravery to spare, ripped to shreds as if they were nothing. I never gave up on you. But, I also had to be realistic."
"Ah, there's my Steve. Never could take a joke for what it was. Always quick to put his heart right there in the open on his shoulder. Never change Steve, never change."

Date: 2019-07-04 01:30 am (UTC)This is, honest to god, the last sentence I've written this evening:
Despite Eggsy's negativity, he's still touching Harry, still exploring and it's making Harry just a bit crazy.

Date: 2019-07-04 03:02 am (UTC)I've been busy, and unfortunately, not well. I tore up my knee in April - a high grade tear in the meniscus, and found out that the reason why I couldn't bend the other knee was because of advanced osteoarthritis and cracks in the cartilage. And of course, it's the perfect time for the RA to flare everywhere else.
But busy is good - my partner in crime and I have been running the first Kingsman Reverse Bang, and I've been writing two stories for it. Finished the first yesterday (it's 31k) and the second is mostly done (40k and counting - will probably end close to fifty). I am honestly getting burned out - about 240k on the year for the wordcount. Which doesn't include everything I've started and not finished.
But I'm glad you're doing well. Any chance of you getting up my way this summer?

And while I am a good hour's train from NYC, I would love for you to visit and stay with me. I have been told by many fannish guests, that House Wonderful brings the creative juices to a boil.

Re: WIP #2
Date: 2019-07-04 11:05 am (UTC)I breathed slow and even, like I was lining up a shot. His red-rimmed eyes weren't only from working 24/7 for the past two weeks, they weren't about staring at tiny wires and circuits or dry air or dehydration. Getting into a shouting match with a grieving, depressed, overstressed genius wouldn't serve anyone. Letting the tension flow out of my shoulders, down my arms and fingertips and away, I tried a smile. It tasted bitter.
"I've learned a lot of things from that school," I agreed. "But one of the most important is this: Sometimes, it's someone else who comes up with the bright idea. The right idea."
